Principal's Message

Welcome to El Cerrito, home of the Super Scotties!  We firmly believe that all children have the opportunity to learn in a safe, positive environment that promotes and encourages respect and responsibility.  We encourage academic excellence; promote self-esteem, value individuality and cultural diversity in every child.  In partnership with our parents and the community our hard working dedicated staff work together to ensure that each student receives a well-balanced quality education.  Our goal is to provide the foundational skills for our students to become productive citizens.  The staff works extremely hard to teach the students the importance of being responsible, respectful students and at the same time we strive to help them understand the importance of working hard and always doing their best.

The El Cerrito staff is constantly working to find and implement the most recent research based instructional strategies to help enhance our instructional programs for students.  Teachers meet on a weekly basis in Professional Learning Community groups to collaborate and discuss student achievement, possible intervention and enrichment opportunities and how to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.  Teachers are continuously asking themselves four key questions when discussing student achievement to ensure student success.

  • What do we expect students to learn?
  • How will we know when they have learned it?
  • How will we respond when they don’t learn?
  • How will we respond when they already know it?

The parents and the community are a key component to the success of our students.  Therefore, we welcome and encourage our parents to take an active role in their child’s education.  We strongly believe in “teamwork” because when the best and brightest come together, the possibilities are endless!
