Teen substance abuse continues to be a significant public health problem in Orange County, and children are experimenting with various substances at very young ages. To reduce the risk a child will use a dangerous substance as a teenager, La Habra City School District has partnered with La Habra Police Department for prevention education.
Above The Influence is La Habra Police Department’s six-week substance abuse prevention program and presented at our middle schools by School Resource Officer, Mark Milward. Presentations are engaging and discuss the disease of addiction, healthy alternatives to substance abuse, the dangers of drugs and alcohol, and how to assertively refuse peer pressure.
The goal of Above the Influence is to eliminate substance abuse through awareness and education. At the conclusion of the program, students will understand why they should say, “NO” to drugs and alcohol.
