At Ladera Palma, our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program continues to thrive, and we are proud to share that our school received the California PBIS Gold Implementation Award. This recognition reflects the shared commitment of staff and students to fostering a school culture rooted in our core values of PODER: Purpose, Opportunity, Determination (Will Power), Enthusiasm, and Responsibility.
Our PBIS foundation is built each school year through “Behavior Bootcamps” led by staff and administrators. During these sessions, students learn how to demonstrate PODER across all areas of campus—classrooms, playgrounds, hallways, and more—ensuring a consistent and proactive approach to behavioral expectations.
To celebrate student success, our Dragon Rewards system allows students to redeem PBIS points for engaging experiences like helping in another classroom, building with Lego at recess, eating lunch in the garden, or serving as “Principal of the Day.”
This year, we introduced a digital rewards system that has transformed the way students engage with PBIS. Teachers created custom classroom PBIS stores where students can shop using their points, choosing rewards that reflect their interests. The digital system streamlines the process, reduces wait times, and saves instructional minutes while keeping student engagement high.
At Ladera Palma, PBIS is not just a framework—it’s a daily practice that empowers students to lead with purpose, take ownership of their choices, and grow into their full potential. We’re proud of our students and staff for making our PBIS journey a true success.
