La Habra City School District is proud to recognize Wai “Shirley” Asato as our 2026 Classified Employee of the Year.
Ms. Shirley has served our District with dedication and heart since 2003, supporting students across multiple school sites and roles. She currently serves as an Instructional Assistant at El Cerrito School, where she is widely respected by students, staff, and administrators for her professionalism, reliability, and unwavering commitment to student success.
Ms. Shirley is known for creating a warm and caring environment for all. Whether offering words of encouragement, supporting teammates, or sharing flowers from her garden, she brings kindness and connection to our school communities every day.
She leads by example through her strong work ethic, consistent attendance, and genuine care for students and families. Her love for our District and community is evident in everything she does, and her impact has been felt across many school sites over the years.
