LHCSD Spelling Bee Celebrates Courage and Achievement

The La Habra City School District hosted its annual District Spelling Bee at Washington Middle School, bringing together talented spellers from every school across the district. The event highlighted not only academic skill, but also the courage students showed as they challenged themselves on stage.

This year’s top finishers were Sebastian Ro, a 7th grader from Washington Middle School, who earned 1st place; Abigail Abinuman, a 6th grader from El Cerrito Elementary, who placed 2nd; and Lucas Diaz, also a 6th grader from El Cerrito Elementary, who finished in 3rd place. Sebastian and Abigail will go on to represent La Habra City School District at the county-level Spelling Bee on February 23.

Parents shared that the event was fun and exciting, noting that while students were understandably nervous, they performed exceptionally well. The audience especially appreciated seeing students push through their jitters and rise to the challenge.

The district extends a special thank you to our judges for their time and support: Board President Justin Rodgers, La Habra Mayor Jose Medrano, and Associate Superintendent of HR Dr. Sheryl Tecker. Congratulations to all participants for an outstanding event and for representing their schools with confidence and pride.
