Celebrating a Year of Excellence, Achievement and Impact Across LHCSD

As we reflect on another incredible year in La Habra City School District, we want to begin by expressing our heartfelt gratitude to our families, staff, and community for the dedication, partnership, and unwavering support you provide to our students every single day. Together, we continue to live out our district theme, Powered by Purpose, by creating learning environments where every child is inspired, supported, and empowered to succeed.

This year, LHCSD students, staff, and schools were recognized locally, statewide, and nationally for excellence across academics, the arts, school culture, innovation, and student leadership. These recognitions are a reflection of the extraordinary work happening in classrooms and campuses throughout our district and the collective commitment of our entire school community.

Among this year’s honors, La Habra City School District received national recognition from The NAMM Foundation as one of the Best Communities for Music Education for the fourth time, celebrating our district’s commitment to providing students with meaningful and equitable access to high-quality music programs. Our students also earned recognition through the OC Arts 4 All Student Art Showcase, where student artists from Mrs. Wendy Wu’s classes were honored for their creativity and artistic excellence.

Several schools earned prestigious distinctions for their outstanding programs and student achievement. Las Lomas Elementary was named an Orange County Department of Education Impact School, placing it among only twelve schools in Orange County to receive this honor. Las Positas Elementary was recognized as a STAR Honor Roll School by Educational Results Partnership for strong academic achievement and student growth. Ladera Palma Elementary earned the ATDLE 2026 TWBI/DLI School of Distinction recognition for its exemplary dual language immersion program and commitment to bilingualism, biliteracy, academic excellence, and equity.

Our district was also proud to be selected to receive the AI K–12 Student Agency Award, recognizing LHCSD’s leadership in empowering student voice and using artificial intelligence in thoughtful, student-centered ways. This recognition highlights our belief that students should not only prepare for the future but actively help shape it.

Imperial Middle School earned second place nationally in the 2024–2025 National Lifetouch Yearbook Showcase, showcasing the creativity, storytelling, and dedication of students and staff who captured the spirit of their school community through exceptional yearbook design and journalism.

Additionally, four LHCSD schools were recognized by the California PBIS Coalition for their outstanding Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports programs. El Cerrito Elementary earned Platinum Recognition, Imperial Middle School and Ladera Palma Elementary received Gold Recognition, and Las Positas Elementary earned Silver Recognition. These honors reflect our staff’s commitment to building safe, positive, and supportive school cultures where students feel connected and ready to learn.

Each award and recognition represents far more than a banner, plaque, or title. They represent students discovering their talents, teachers inspiring curiosity, staff members creating welcoming environments, and families partnering alongside our schools to help children thrive. These accomplishments are possible because of our community’s shared commitment to ensuring every student is known, valued, and supported. This year also marked the expansion of our Extended Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP), providing students with increased access to high-quality after school programs that support academics, enrichment, athletics, and student engagement. Across our schools, students participated in meaningful opportunities that extended learning beyond the classroom through after school sports, creative enrichment activities, academic support, and engaging hands-on experiences.

As we look ahead to next year, we are filled with excitement and optimism for all that our students will continue to accomplish. We know even bigger and greater things are ahead, and we cannot wait to see our students continue to grow, achieve, lead, and inspire. Together, we will continue to be Powered by Purpose as we create opportunities that prepare every child for a bright and successful future.

On behalf of La Habra City School District, we wish all of our families a safe, joyful summer filled with meaningful family time, new experiences, and opportunities for independent learning and discovery. Thank you for an amazing year, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for another extraordinary year of learning and achievement in August.
