At La Habra City School District, the safety and well-being of every student and staff member remains our highest priority. Students learn and thrive when they feel safe, welcomed, and supported, and we remain committed to continuously strengthening the systems, practices, and partnerships that protect our schools.
As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, we want to highlight several measures in place across LHCSD:
Closed Campuses: Our schools operate as closed campuses during the school day. Access is limited to designated entrances, and visitors must check in through the school office before entering campus.
- Visitor Management: We utilize Verkada Guest Services to screen and manage campus visitors and help ensure that individuals entering our schools are properly identified and authorized.
- Partnership with the La Habra Police Department: We continue to work closely with the La Habra Police Department and our School Resource Officer to support school safety, preparedness, and emergency response.
- Campus Security: We continue to strengthen video surveillance and other security measures across our schools to improve visibility.
- More Resilient Phone Service: Following recent incidents of copper wire theft that disrupted traditional telephone infrastructure in our community, LHCSD has migrated our phone service to newer technology that does not rely on the vulnerable copper infrastructure that caused those disruptions. This provides greater reliability and helps ensure our schools remain accessible to families.
- Emergency Preparedness: Staff participate in ongoing safety training, and schools conduct regular safety and emergency drills so students and employees are prepared to respond appropriately in an emergency.
Safety is also a shared responsibility. We encourage students, staff, and families to follow the principle of See Something, Hear Something, Say Something. If something does not seem right, please report it promptly to a trusted adult, school administrator, or appropriate authority. Even a small piece of information can help prevent a larger concern.
