La Habra families—good news! Your child may be eligible for SUN Bucks, a new program from the State of California that provides up to $120 per child to help cover the cost of groceries this summer.
What is SUN Bucks?
SUN Bucks is California’s version of the Summer EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) program. It helps families purchase healthy food during summer break.
Who Can Receive SUN Bucks?
Your child may qualify if they:
- Are between 6–18 years old and go to school
- Receive free or reduced-price meals at school
- Are part of CalFresh, CalWORKs, or Medi-Cal
- Are homeless, in foster care, or from a migrant family
- Or your family meets income eligibility guidelines
How Much Will We Receive?
Families will get $40 per month for each child in June, July, and August—that’s $120 per child for the summer. The money comes on a special SUN Bucks (S-EBT) card that will be mailed to your home, so please make sure your mailing address is up to date!
How Do I Apply?
You only need to submit one Universal Benefits Application (UBA) per household:
- Apply online (the fastest and easiest way!)
- Or pick up a paper form at your child’s school office
This application may also connect your family to other helpful programs.
Applying will NOT affect your immigration status and will not impact your child’s access to free school meals.
Important Deadlines
- Apply by June 6th to get your benefits on time.
- Final deadline: August 31, 2025. If a family applies later in the summer (like in August), the benefits may be delayed, but they will still receive the full amount retroactively.
