La Habra City School District Appoints Dr. Sheryl Tecker to Associate Superintendent of Human Resources and Dr. Marcie Poole to Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services

La Habra, CA - The La Habra City School District (LHCSD) has appointed Dr. Sheryl Tecker to Associate Superintendent of Human Resources and Dr. Marcie Poole to Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. These selections are a result of the District’s reorganization after the appointment of Dr. Mario A. Carlos to Superintendent.  Dr. Tecker and Dr. Poole will begin to serve LHCSD in their new roles on July 1, 2022. 

Dr. Sheryl Tecker has over 30 years of experience in education, with many of those years dedicated to the students and families of the La Habra City School District.  She has served as a Social Science Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, Director of Special Programs and Assessments, and Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services.   

Dr. Tecker has her Bachelor’s Degree in American Studies from Stanford University, a Masters Degree in Education from Claremont Graduate School and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from California State University, San Bernardino.  In 2018, she earned her Doctorate in Education from Concordia University, Irvine.  Dr. Tecker also has Multiple Subject and Single Subject Teaching Credentials and an Administrative Services Credential.

Dr. Tecker’s 23 years of experience in La Habra and collaboration with community partners have helped her develop strong relationships and build community-wide support for the goals and vision of LHCSD.  She believes in supporting the personal and professional development of all employees of LHCSD to ensure all students in the District are provided with equitable educational outcomes.

Dr. Tecker is a proud mother of two, David and Ben, who both continued their public education in the California State University system.  When Dr. Tecker is not at work, she is spending time  in nature with her husband, Paul Tecker, camping, hiking and kayaking.

Dr. Marcie Poole has over 25 years of experience in education serving as a Teacher, Literacy Coach, Assistant Principal, Principal, Consultant, and District Administrator. Since July 2020 she has served La Habra City School District as the Director of Special Programs and Assessments. Additionally, she has a great deal of experience in leadership development, facilitating professional learning, and building connections with educational partners. 

Dr. Poole earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Long Beach and her Master's Degree in Education from Pepperdine University. She also attended the University of La Verne where she earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership. 

Dr. Poole is a visionary instructional leader who is focused on common goals, data-based decision-making, and values the role leaders play in empowering all staff to lead and learn. She believes in educating the whole child with consideration of both academic and social needs while ensuring that students are ready for college and career success. Furthermore, she is committed to life-long learning and service in education.

Dr. Marcie Poole is a proud mother to three children: Ashley, Brooklyn, and Isaac.  Her personal interests are learning new things, cheering on her children, serving in various community organizations, watching sports, and spending time with her husband Marc, friends and family.
