El Cerrito Elementary is all about building traditions for our school community! This year we began a new tradition, Lunch with a Loved One. On January 26, 2024, we hosted a school-wide picnic for our Scottie families. Over 375 students had families, friends, and school staff join them for a special lunch on the field. Families brought a variety of food to enjoy for the event. Homemade meals, lunch from local establishments, and desserts were in abundance around campus. Not only did families bring enough food for their group of loved ones, but also for other friends in their child’s class! Some even brought tables, chairs, and decorations to provide a fine dining experience for lunch! There wasn’t a place on campus that wasn’t filled with students, family, and loved ones! It truly was a sight to see! After lunch, everyone brought games and activities to enjoy with their children.
What made this event even more wonderful was how our El Cerrito staff stepped in to make this a huge success! All staff members participated in ensuring every student felt included. From securing the campus to providing lunch and activities for students, staff members joined in the fun! Thank you to the El Cerrito classroom teachers for giving of their time during lunch to make students feel special. Thank you to our planning committee, Anna Carlos, Julie Hernandez, Liz Parra, and Ellisa Sanchez, for organizing such a fabulous afternoon for our El Cerrito Community!
