Walnut Celebrates Student Achievement at Annual Medal Ceremony

Walnut Celebrates Student Achievement at Annual Medal Ceremony

One of the most joyful traditions at Walnut Elementary is our annual Medal Ceremony, an event that celebrates the core values of hard work, growth, and academic excellence. Each year, our school community comes together to honor 3rd–6th grade students who have either met or exceeded grade-level standards in English Language Arts or Math, as well as those who have achieved 50 points or more of academic growth on their assessments.

This event is more than just a celebration—it’s a reflection of our students’ dedication and perseverance, and the consistent support they receive from teachers and families. Watching students proudly walk across the stage, medals around their necks, is a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished with high expectations and a strong support system.

The ceremony is also a special opportunity for families to witness and celebrate the academic progress of their children, reinforcing the important role they play in each student’s success. As an added touch, students who wear their medals during state testing receive a small gift from the school—a meaningful gesture that ties past achievement to future motivation.

We are incredibly proud of our students and deeply grateful to our families for their partnership in supporting student success. The Medal Ceremony is a treasured reminder of how far our students have come—and the bright future that lies ahead.
