End of the Year Activities

At Imperial Middle School we just finished our 2nd trimester of the 2022-2023 academic year.

Around 140 students received Honor Roll (3.5 GPA or higher) and High Honor Roll (4.0 GPA). Together with the exceptional academic performance, we also highlighted our success in music and athletics.

Our Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Carvajal-Beck, received an Excellent rating at our most recent music festival held at Beckman High School in Irvine. To get to this point, our Concert Band students, mostly eighth graders, have worked diligently over the last three academic years. This is the first music festival IMS has participated in and the top rating of Superior is just around the corner.

As we head into the last trimester, students in eighth grade are preparing to advance to high school. Many have met with high school counselors and determined their programs of interest. Students have prepared for our park picnic and promotion party as well as being fitted for their graduation gowns.

Both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams are starting their final season in our athletics. Over 100 students tried out for afterschool sports. This season, our girls’ soccer team went undefeated all the way up to their final game against our sister school Washington Middle School. With the completion of our state-wide end-of-year assessment, we will finish strong.

Our theme for the school year was Mission Possible and with the restart of the state assessment, our last year’s eighth-grade students were able to increase their academic scores after two years without state testing. As a newly authorized IB Middle Years Program, we are excited to witness the higher accomplishment level our students will reach in the coming years.
