RISE Program Empowers Student Growth at IMS

At Imperial Middle School, the RISE (Reaching Independence through Support and Education) Program is transforming lives by providing students with access to standards-based, grade-aligned curriculum tailored to their unique needs and abilities. This inclusive program supports academic growth while emphasizing critical life skills that foster independence and confidence.

A key feature of the RISE program is its Community-Based Instructional (CBI) outings, where students gain hands-on experience with essential life skills for independent living and community engagement. Through activities such as money management, navigating public spaces, understanding community signs, and practicing appropriate social interactions, students apply what they learn in the classroom to real-world situations. For example, students practice purchasing ingredients to prepare recipes, blending academic skills like reading, math, and problem-solving in a meaningful context.

In addition to their off-campus learning, RISE students play an active role on campus by helping manage Imperial’s PBIS “Imazon” store. This weekly responsibility provides opportunities to build vocational and social skills in a real-world setting, reinforcing their development as capable and contributing members of the school community.

The RISE program reflects Imperial Middle School’s commitment to empowering every student with the tools, experiences, and confidence they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom. We are proud to celebrate the remarkable growth and achievements of our RISE students and look forward to all they will continue to accomplish.
