LHCSD Important Updates and Information

Dear La Habra City School District Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

We would like to remind you that after expert guidance from the Orange County Department of Public Health, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and with the support of the Orange County Department of Education, all schools in the La Habra City School District (LHCSD) will remain closed.

While information is changing on a daily basis, we expect our schools and District Office to be closed through May 8, 2020 with students returning on Monday, May 11, 2020. We are dismissing school (temporary school closure) for eight weeks starting from our initial date of March 16, 2020.  These dates are subject to change as we receive further guidance from the Public Health Agencies and Orange County Department of Education.

Although there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) related to our District, this step is being taken out of an abundance of caution.  This is not a decision we take lightly, as we know that temporarily closing our District has a tremendous impact on our students and families.  However, we have confidence that this is the proper precautionary course at this time.

Instruction will not be provided during Spring Break, March 23-27, and we urge you to continue to be safe and practice social-distancing guidelines.

LHCSD Important Updates and Information:

Distance Learning

LHCSD will begin Distance Learning on March 30, 2020.  We are so proud and grateful for our teaching staff who have taken on this tremendous task to continue to educate and support  our students.  The purpose of Distance Learning is to provide continuity of learning to all of our students, pre-school-8th grade.  Teachers and administrators have been working hard all week to develop lessons using Distance Learning platforms.  Teachers will now be able to communicate, teach, connect and provide feedback to students digitally.  For families who may have difficulties accessing Distance Learning digitally, alternative plans will be available.

Device Access

Our priority is to provide devices for those students that currently do not have any at home.  For students that do not have a device or internet to access Distance Learning opportunities, beginning March 30, the District technology staff will provide devices. In order to support social distancing guidelines, the device checkouts will require an appointment in advance. To request an appointment, please complete our Technology Access Form.

Students that currently have access to a device or have already arranged to check-out a device do not need to complete the Technology Access Form

Technology Helpline for Parents

The Technology Department is available to answer questions from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday except for the week of Spring Break.  Questions related to technology should be submitted through our Distance Learning Technology Support form

Special Education

If your child receives special education services, your child’s IEP team will communicate how Distance Learning will support your child’s unique needs.

Nutrition Services

The Nutrition Services Department will continue to serve Grab and Go Meals during school closures to all children 18 and under.  The meals will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at Walnut, Las Lomas and Washington Middle School.  No application or identification is needed.   All children are welcome, but must be present in order to receive their meal.  As a reminder, Grab and Go Meals will not be available the week of Spring Break, March 23 to March 27.
