Four LHCSD Schools Recognized for Outstanding PBIS Programs

The La Habra City School District is proud to announce that four of our schools have been honored by the California PBIS Coalition during the 2024–2025 school year for their outstanding Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) programs. These recognitions highlight our staff’s commitment to building strong, positive school cultures that support student success. El Cerrito Elementary received Platinum Recognition, Imperial Middle School and Ladera Palma Elementary earned Gold Recognition, and Las Positas Elementary was recognized with Silver Recognition.

At LHCSD, we believe that a comprehensive PBIS implementation plan is essential for creating safe and supportive learning environments. PBIS is a proactive, evidence-based framework that focuses on teaching and reinforcing positive behaviors. For families, this means their children are part of a school culture where expectations are clear, consistent, and supportive—helping students thrive academically and socially both inside the classroom and throughout their overall school experience.

The recognition process involves a thorough review by PBIS evaluators, who conduct on-site walkthroughs to observe classrooms, common areas, and overall school culture. They confirm that PBIS practices are not only in place but are also actively shaping the school environment in positive ways. From posted expectations and student acknowledgment systems to restorative practices and staff collaboration, reviewers look for evidence that PBIS is making a meaningful impact on student behavior and school climate.

These honors reflect the hard work of LHCSD staff, students, and families in fostering schools where positive behavior is celebrated, and every student feels connected and supported. We congratulate El Cerrito, Imperial Middle, Ladera Palma, and Las Positas on their achievements and thank them for modeling the values of positivity, respect, and community that make our district strong.
