Behavior Support

La Habra City School District aims to create a safe, supportive environment where students can thrive academically and personally. By focusing on positive behavior, social development, and restorative conflict resolution, the district helps students navigate challenges and succeed both in and out of school:

Districtwide Social Emotional Learning Programs
These programs teach students how to understand and manage emotions, develop empathy, and make responsible decisions. SEL programs are proactive and can significantly reduce behavioral issues by fostering emotional intelligence and positive social interactions. We implement researched based SEL programs, such as Second Step for elementary schools and Ripple Effects for middle schools.

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
PBIS promotes positive behavior for all students while offering extra support to those in need. Using a tiered approach, it addresses varying levels of student needs and ensures clear, consistent behavior expectations. Through data collection and analysis, PBIS tracks behavior and intervention effectiveness, allowing schools to adjust strategies and better support student success.

Counseling Services
All sites have Mental Health Support professionals who help students struggling with emotional, social, or behavioral challenges. Counseling can be individual or group-based, and it often targets issues like anxiety, anger management, or interpersonal conflicts.

Disciplinary Measures
The district aims to maintain a safe and conducive learning environment in which students can effectively learn. Our focus is to provide students with the skills and resources they need to make positive choices. For more detailed expectations for student conduct, refer to the Parent Handbook.
